Question 4 Answer
Literacy, numeracy, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills are the foundation for participation in the modern world. One billion children, 92% of whom live in low-income countries, are at risk of being left behind because they can’t read a simple sentence, do math or understand how to analyze complex issues. This is the heart of what the learning gap means: One billion children’s futures are at stake. It sounds high, and it is, but it’s not insurmountable. Governments around the world have realized the problem, and they are mobilizing for change. We’re working with them in 15 countries to help close that gap by transforming how children learn. We support systemic, national-level changes wherever possible to make play-based learning more accessible to the most children, and to ensure changes are sustainable over time to benefit the next generations.
